HP Z800 Smartbuys

HP "smartbuys" are models pre-configured by HP, as opposed to custom CTO (Configure To Order) models with much more granular specification.  Smartbuys are more readily available, and often can be shipped the day of the order.  Many smartbuys lack a graphics card and are configured with a bare minimum of memory.  If you are looking for the best value in new HP workstations, that can also ship quickly, smartbuys are the way to go.

Smartbuys can still be customized by adding memory, additional storage, accessories and devices, a 2nd processor for those shipped with just one; a graphics card of your choice if it shipped graphics-less or with an entry-level model graphics card.

In fact the fastest and the least expensive way to purchase a new HP workstation (not just the Z800) is to get a "smartbuy" that fits your needs as a foundation and then customize it with nearly any option except primary processor or power supply.

(Note that HP does not support upgrading the primary processor; fitting it with a processor that is not an HP part will void its warranty.)
