Clean is Green!

Keeping your computer clean, secure and protected is good for you, and it is good for the planet: putting the lid on proliferation of internet crime, spam and malware begins with your computer.  If your computer is not well protected or worse, already infected, it can easily become a spam source, a "zombie" attacking other computers, or a part of a criminal botnet.

Important: this service is only available at our office.  Purchase this item only if you plan on bringing or shipping your computer to our office.

Included in the service:

Scan, clean and protect your Windows system:

Scan and clean the hard drive(s) from malware and unwanted software

1. (backup (image) the hard drive(s) - optional service)
2. detach the hard drive(s) and attach them to a separate clean system
3. run multiple "scan and clean up" cycles using reputable anti-malware agents:
   - Microsoft Security Essentials and one or more of the following:
   - BitDefender Online Scanner
   - Panda ActiveScan
   - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
   - and more
4. re-attach the hard drive back into its mother system
5. Install Microsoft Security Essentials (and/or other anti-malware agent if required)
6. Repeat Step 3 until the system is clean
7. Run Microsoft automatic updates

Protect your Windows system

1. Install Microsoft Security Essentials if not already install (and/or other anti-malware agent if required)
2. Ensure Windows Firewall and Automatic Updates are enabled; any user account with administrative privileges is password-protected
3. Secure the internet browser, ensure that it is:
   - the latest version
   - configured for security
   - recommend Google Chrome as the most secure browser
4. Recommend Microsoft Windows 7 (or Vista) as vastly more secure version of Windows compared to XP

The fine print

• No files and no data will be copied or retained from your hard disk(s) other than for the purpose of temporary back-up or imaging; we do not view or open any files
• The Windows configuration or the hard disk(s) may be damaged beyond repair making the recovery impossible; we will advise you if that's the case
• Hard disk scan and clean up is an intensive operation that may "bring the computer to its knees" if the computer is old, damaged or mis-configured, or even results in a hard disk crash and loss of data.  Please back up your important files and data before bringing the computer to us.
