Cheetah 15K.3 Product Overview

The Lowest Cost-per-I/O Disc Drive

The new Cheetah 15K.3 enterprise disc drive runs faster, cooler and quieter than ever, and is the only 15K drive backed by two previous generations of 15K experience. The Cheetah 15K.3 is offered in 73-, 36- and 18-Gbyte capacities including Ultra320 SCSI and 2-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel. The Cheetah 15K.3 is the lowest cost-per-I/O disc drive because it delivers 35 percent more I/Os per second (IOPS) than the 10K. Fewer 15K drives are needed to deliver the same IOPS as 10K, leading to greater overall system reliability and savings in hardware, space, power, cooling and IT administration costs, resulting in lower total cost of ownership.

Features and Benefits

Features Benefits
Lowest cost-per-I/O drive The Cheetah 15K.3 delivers 35 percent more IOPS than 10K, allowing fewer drives to be used to meet the system’s I/O requirements.
Third-generation 15K The only 15K based on two previous generations of 15K experience
Whisper-quiet acoustics Quiet drive for workstations and office-area servers
The highest reliability rating Worry-free 24x7 operation
Incredibly low power consumption Multi-drive systems draw less wattage of power and require fewer fans for cooling.
15K-RPM speed 35 percent more IOPS and 29 percent faster minimum sustained transfer rate than 10K
Most widely used 15K-RPM disc drive Zero-risk decision for deploying new storage or for upgrading existing systems
Design Service Center Lowers the cost of deploying storage solutions by testing system-level reliability early
Fastest interfaces Data integrity assured via the Seagate Ultra320 SCSI implementation beginning and ending with the strongest and cleanest signal
2 interfaces for each capacity Ultra320 SCSI and 2-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel for each capacity make the Cheetah 10K.6 the most versatile 10K drive on the market.
Millennia of combined engineering and manufacturing experience Seagate is the dependable partner offering the most reliable products, the best technology and the best services.
